This week on CRTL, we're pleased to welcome Dr. Dean Stamatis back to the program. He's here today to talk with us about one of his recent publications entitled A Catechetical Handbook of the Eastern Orthodox Church. Also with us is Nicholas Reeves, who recently produced a concert entitled "Deliverance Through Devotion: The Triumph of Orthodox Music Over Oppression" that was performed at the St. Vartan Cathedral in New York City.

International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC) is delivering medical supplies to assist refugee families who have fled ethnic violence in Kyrgyzstan this month. Tens of thousands of ethnic Uzbeks fled the violence and crossed the border into Uzbekistan to seek safety while others remain displaced within Kyrgyzstan.

NEW YORK CITY - The North American Orthodox-Catholic Theological Consultation continued work on a new agreed statement during its meeting at Hellenic College/Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology in Brookline, Massachusetts, June 1-3. The meeting was co-chaired by Metropolitan Maximos of Pittsburgh and Archbishop Gregory M. Aymond of New Orleans.

This week on CRTL, we'll hear from V. Rev. Archimandrite Dr. Elpidophoros Lambriniadis, Chief Secretary of the Holy and Sacred Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate. Fr. Elpidophoros joined us last week by phone from Moscow, where Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and Patriarch Kirill of the Russian Orthodox Church were meeting during His All Holiness's Official Visit to Russia.

"So many Ethiopians, especially the children, face a host of dreadful diseases," said IOCC Ethiopia Country Representative Sigurd Hanson. "The numbers are brutal and stark, but most of these diseases are preventable."
